Baby Jade Bonsai Tree Portulacaria Afra X-Lrg Indoor Bonsai 17 yr 14-17"
Baby Jade Bonsai Tree - X Large
This succulent bonsai, also known as the "Elephant Bush", is native to South Africa and has pale green leaves that are almost round. The leaves are about one-third the size of the common Jade plant, making this variety superior for Bonsai.
An arid climate plant; Baby Jade stores water in it's fleshy trunk, branches, and leaves. Allow soil to dry almost completely before watering.; Caution must be used to Avoid OVER watering especially in winter. Leaf Loss, Softness or Sponginess of Leaves or Branches is a sign of to much water.
Fortunately, these characteristics make this an excellent bonsai tree for Beginners, Offices and busy Homes.
In the wild, this plant can produce lavender pink flowers, however it seldom flowers as a Bonsai.
Note: Portulacaria Afra is semi-tolerant of cold. It will survive, in a garden, in cold climates, with brief drops to about 32F but does not tolerate actual freezing without damage. As a Bonsai we recommend it as an Indoor Bonsai or one which will be moved indoors at about 40F.
Great for indoors
